"Attention Squad AO - 132198769, please report to observation deck for training simulation.... Attention Squad AO - 132198769, please report to observation deck for training simulation.... Attention Squad AO - 132198769, please report to observation deck for training simulation...." The computer program which handled conveying messages of this nature repeated this pattern several times, as was typical when Director Waller wanted things put across. Most of the clones, particularly the ones who were part of the squad in question, would only need it to go through the cycle once, if at all after the first announcement.
As the clones who were concerned by the summoning made their way down the hallway leading to the room, a few muttered to one another in confusion, there had been no training for anyone that they knew of scheduled for that day, and everyone in the family seemed to be in the hallway, barring those who were still filtering into the rather long room. Eventually everyone was accounted for in the rather cramped room, glass walls and all, having them suspended over the considerably larger simulation deck below.
The cavernous place was complete with a multitude of projection tiles, which could generate a series of special "solid-light" projections which could fill-in for expensive things like equipment and employees. This state-of-the-art design was the private property of Lex Luthor himself, and only the earliest stages of this development would be released to the public within a year. Today, the room seemed to be a fairly standard set-up, largely blank and empty, with the exception of a large scoreboard levitating near the top of the room itself, with a smaller version projected onto the top of a wall so that those in the observatory could see the information.
On the scoreboard was the word "Beyond", with an image of one of the B-Series suits that CADMUS had developed for Batman clones, specifically the face, beneath the designation. On the other side were three names, Bolt, Athena, and Echo, cycling between the images of several high-rated clones, though still not members of Squad AO, they were widely considered the closest to that level.
Inside the room itself stood four figures, one separate and at a considerable distance away from the trio. A table placed in front of each party with an assortment of gear specific to each individual. A red-haired lad in a blue suit worked about equipping a pair of metal gauntlets, while a young lady with a blond bobby-cut smirked to him and teased, "What? Do you think you'll really need all extra 'umph' to hurt the bat?" Another woman with longer black hair smirked towards the pair and quipped in, "Yeah, he's a bat clone, and none of those have proven exceptional, not the pure ones anyway." Both of the girls clearly confident about their chances.
The young man shot a glare at both of them and growled, "you don't see it then, clearly it's some kind of trick if they want the three of us on just the one of him for some kind of promotion session." Clearly not too enthused at his friend's response to the entire situation. After the boy finished fastening his gauntlets, the blond girl finished wrapping and gloving her fists, and the dark-haired girl finished strapping her shield on and held a shortsword in-hand, the three appeared ready. The table which had previously had all types of equipment set before it was empty before dissipating, much like the three clone's did before them.
"Okay, so clearly this is some kind of upgraded suit," Bolt began as he spoke to the other two while pulling up his hood and zipping shut the mask that came from the cloth, "if you two flank him I can move i-" The young man's instructions were cut short, however, as Project Athena let out a roar and charged forward, attempting for a wide slash with her blade. The black-armored foe moved into the attack, aiming a precise strike to the woman's exposed arm, with one knuckle jutted out. This attack forced her weapon-arm to go numb completely and drop the sword. Gripping her arm in his hand, Project Beyond spun Athena around forcefully and kicked her in the posterior, sending the girl flying a distance and back to her partners.
Bolt and Echo both looked down for a moment to the seemingly defeated clone, as they looked up once more to see Beyond take the sword in both hands and break it in two, causing it to disappear into a collection of floating data. "Alright then, she's down for a bit, but we can sti-" Cut off now by Echo moving in, she loosed a sonic scream, forcing the enemy clone back a ways as he clutched his ears in pain. "That works too!" Bolt shouted as he moved in with his trademark speed, his gauntlets vibrating, enhancing the power of each punch.
Going in with a one-two-three, Bolt sent out a brief flurry of fists, with the last missing. This was negated by a decisive kick to the jaw, knocking the armored-clone back a couple of steps. Stumbling now, Echo followed with a knee-strike to his face as well, while clutching the ears of his mask for leverage. The first was successful, followed by a second, but when a third came up the knee was met with two waiting palms to catch it. Forcing the leg back, Beyond forced himself up, any resistance the girl putting towards it rendered futile as he was much too strong, rising with a headbutt to the woman's gut.
Letting out a grunt of pain, Echo stumbled several steps herself, to be met with four fists to the face and torso, as well as a swift kick to the same spot that she'd been headbutted. Knocked back by the assault, the blond landed next to a stirring Athena, as both young women groaned in pain. Beyond wasn't given a chance to rest though, Bolt appeared seeming from nowhere, landing a powerful hook into his back, letting out a grunt of pain, Beyond aimed a powerful kick behind himself, though the speedster blocked some of the force off from the attack. Spinning around, the bat seized the opening he found, darting in and protracting his claws. Gripping the fast hero by his costume, Beyond spun around several times after picking up the other combatant.
Crashing on the two recovered women, the trio fell into a pile, though they quickly righted themselves. Punching one fist into his open palm, Beyond moved his head about as if he were cracking his neck. The three clones then encircled Beyond. Keeping an eye on them, the fighter got into a ready stance, and waited for his opponents to make the first move. Bolt hopped in, his movements a blur, as he attempted to aim a punch. The young man easily deflected the punch and follow-up, responding with a round-house kick to the side, prompting the speedster to cry out in pain, and be knocked up by his finishing kick.
Athena and Echo then grabbed Beyond by each shoulder, prompting him to grip each of them by the wrist. Heaving them with all of his might over himself, and into Bolt, reversing the situation that had been the case mere moments before. Not even allowing them the chance to get back up Beyond propped Athena onto the toe of his boot and launched her into the air, attacking the other clone mercilessly with a flurry of crushing blows, through which the sound of crunching bone could be distinctly heard, before a big finishing slam that sent the girl flying into the wall, leaving a small crater of cracks into the projected surface.
Bolt managed to move in for an upper-cut, which was enhanced by his vibro-gauntlets, stumbling Beyond for a step, but only to be met with the response of a powerful and well-aimed fist to the bicep. That particular arm now bending the wrong way, the red-headed youth let out a scream of pain before being silenced a moment before by another fist to the temple. As her teammate dropped to the ground, Echo let out one canary cry to finish it all off.... Or she would have if a precision-strike to the throat wasn't made. Making a choking noise, she received a swift boot to the face as a follow-up.
As the last clone fell to the floor, the scoreboard immediately began having numbers run where the pictures previously were. Eventually the numbers began flashing green, as underneath Beyond's was a 9.78563, meanwhile the other threes were 4.3, 2.4, and 5.0. The sign then flashed, Team B "FAIL", followed by a solid display of Beyond "PASS".
